MOODb movie title standards

This is important to read through and understand before you start uploading
movie information to MOODb.

Movies often have names that can be constructed many different ways.
People also tend to have different opinions on how movie data should
be added into MOODb. Because of this, guidelines are needed.

There are exceptions to every rule, but the main principle is that
the movie name in MOODb should reflect the correct name, and nothing else.

Below is a list of typical issues encountered in MOODb.

The THE issue

This applies to all movies starting with "The", like in "The Matrix".
The movie is named "The Matrix", and not "Matrix, The".
The same goes for titles from other countries.
Corrupting the movie title is not an option if you want to sort your movies alphabetically.

As of version v2.7.6 you can customize the names of your movies in your online movie list
without affecting the original name of the movie in MOODb. With this feature you can list
"The Matrix" as "Matrix, The".

The A issue

This one is similar to 'The THE issue'.
This applies to all movies starting with 'A', like in 'A Bug's Life'.
The movie is named 'A Bug's Life', and not 'Bug's Life, A'.

The extended title issue

This applies to all movies with an extended title, like in '2001: A Space Odyssey'.
The colon (:) should always be directly after the main title followed by a space
and then the extended title. The minus sign (-) should never replace the colon (:).

Here's examples on how it should NOT look:
2001:A Space Odyssey
2001 : A Space Odyssey
2001 - A Space Odyssey
2001-A Space Odyssey

And once again, how it SHOULD look:
2001: A Space Odyssey

The YEAR issue

All movies in MOODb are based on a key combination of year and movie title.
King Kong is a good example. It can be found multiple times in MOODb, with year as the
only thing that differentiates the movies.
It's not a problem adding several movies with the same name as long as they have a
different year. Do NOT include the year in the title unless it actually is a part of the title.

The capital letter issue

Movie titles commonly have the first letter of all significant words capitalized.

Examples of valid titles:
A Fistful of Dollars
Clear and Present Danger
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The Bridge on the River Kwai

Examples of invalid titles:
A Fistful Of Dollars
Clear and present danger
close encounters of the third kind
The bridge on the river Kwai

If you are unsure on how the title should be constructed, check out the movies
official home page, or any other serious source for movie information.

The Boxset/Trilogy/Edition issue

MOODb is meant to include information about movies, and not every single boxset, trilogy
or special edition release available.

Edition information can be added in the Edition field.

If you for example have a movie trilogy, recommended use is to add the three movies separately
in your collection, and use the trilogy thumbnail image for all three movies. If the trilogy thumbnail is
missing in MOODb, please add it to all three movies.

Please don't create entries besides actual movies to MOODb.
They will be flagged as duplicates and removed.
